Description
—Welcome to Antique_Germany!—
This totally rare and outstanding plate was made by German manufacture Ludwigsburger Porzellan-Fabrik between 1759 and 1793. The manufacture was founded by Carl Eugen, the duke of Wurttemberg, and this plate belonged to his period.
The centre of the plate depicts a scene from Torquato Tasso’s epic poem “Jerusalem Delivered”, specifically the character Erminia, dressed as a shepherdess, is carving Tancred’s name into a tree. This scene was a popular subject in art.
The picture of Erminia has a gorgeous gold frame with embossed details. A thick cobalt rim with delicate roses and golden net is a delightful finish to this work of art.
CONDITION: the plate is in good condition, without any chips, cracks or restoration. The gold in some places is worn but not too much (examine the pictures, please).
MEASUREMENT: approx.: 25 cm (diameter)
Please do not put it in the dishwasher!
